Queen Rania of Jordan is an example of a modern Arab woman who breaks fashion stereotypes in her country. First of all, she is not afraid to experiment with her outfits; secondly, she chooses famous brands; thirdly, she wonderfully incorporates national prints into her glamorous modern outfits.
But if you think that the subjects admire their Queen for her style, you are quite mistaken! It turns out that, for over a year, Rania has been under serious scrutiny for her clothes spending. Every time she steps out in a particularly expensive outfit, social networks start buzzing with angry comments.
Now, when things got heated up again, the royal court has decided to address this issue. It was mentioned that accusations of this sort have been historically used against the leaders.
Today, we see some in Jordan adopting this approach to portray Her Majesty the Queen as far from reality, far from the truth. So, they may reject this clarification and question it in principle, in an effort to build a false public opinion.
There are two facts that prove Rania’s good intentions. First, many of her outfits were only borrowed from brands for the duration of an event. Given the identity of the borrower, we don’t think fashion houses would be worried about the condition of the outfit upon return. Second, designers are very fond of Rania, so many of her outfits were presented to her.
As you can see, the arguments in Rania’s defense are pretty solid, but they don’t seem to convince her opponents.
Do you think Queen Rania should be thriftier? Or do you think that sporting luxurious dresses is part and parcel of being a queen? Let us know in the comments.
