Owner Sold A Car To Pay For Dog's Surgery After He Was Diagnosed With A Blockage

We are all familiar with the truth of the saying 'a dog is man's best friend'. While some pet owners take this phrase figuratively, Randy Etter takes it literally. His best pal in the world is his dog, Gemini.

Randy and Gemini have been together since Gemini was a puppy. Their worlds revolve around each other, and they love each other very much.

One day, Randy's girlfriend's daughter was playing catch with Gemini. She threw her bottle out of her playpen, and each time that happened, Gemini would fetch it like a good boy.

Randy would take the bottle from Gemini, wash it, and hand it to the little girl to throw again. Unknown to Randy, Gemini grabbed the baby's bottle at one point, and he ate the top. No one knew about it until Gemini began falling ill. While speaking to The Dodo, Randy said:

"He just started to slow down, and I didn't think that was normal, just laying beside me and following me everywhere."

Things got worse, and Gemini began vomiting. It was then that Randy was certain something was terribly wrong with his pal, and he immediately rushed the poochie to the vet. Sadly, the vet couldn't find anything wrong with Gemini.

Randy was determined not to give up and drove from one vet to another to find out what had happened to his boy. Unfortunately, he lost his job in the process.

Finally, Randy hit the jackpot when a vet finally diagnosed that Gemini had a blockage and that the dog would need to undergo surgery which cost $4,500. Randy didn't have the money, but he determined to do all he could to keep his best friend alive.

So, he resorted to putting his car up for sale while trying to raise the rest. A friend was able to loan him $2,000, but that wasn't enough.

Luckily, his ad about his car sale on Facebook was seen by the S.O.A.R Initiative (Street Outreach Animal Response), and they decided to help. They were able to raise $3,000 from strangers who were touched by the bond between Gemini and Randy, and the lovely dog finally had the surgery.

And he made it through!

What a touching story! It is proof that the bond between animals and humans transcends the ordinary.
