This video, taken in the Chinese subway, stole our hearts! It features a young boy and his mother, who happened to fall asleep on the ride.

That’s where her son showed his ultimate care and love for the tired mom. He let her rest on his lap, caressing her hair.

The view is beyond adorable.

It is not easy to raise compassionate and selfless children, who have sympathy for others and a desire to help those in need. Psychologists suggest a few parenting tips to make it happen:

1. Communicate

Talking openly about feelings and emotions is the key to build a bridge between a parent and a child. From an early age, kids are not aware of other people’s feelings; they learn to understand them with time. The parent’s task is to help through the process by opening up.

2. Volunteer

Engage in volunteer work with your child and explain why it is important to help others, and how it makes you feel.

3. Let them do chores

Chores teach the child the concept of individual contribution to the common cause.

4. Praise not for the job done, but for the internal motivation

Instead of saying how nice the floor is cleaned, express gratitude for the child’s care and desire to help.

5. Reward them for consistent good behaviour instead of just one random act of kindness

Be careful: frequent gifts may create a misconception of reward. Your love and spending time together should not be perceived as the present for good deeds. The child may feel that parental love has conditions and depends on how diligent he is.

Relationships between parents and children may be complicated. However, parenting is the most rewarding experience of all!
