Bridal shop featured a mannequin in a wheelchair

A Twitter user, who happened to be disabled, was more than surprised to see a mannequin in a wheelchair, demonstrating a wonderful wedding dress. Beth Wilson wrote the caption:

It shouldn’t be exciting but it’s the first time I’ve ever seen disability portrayed in a shop window.

The woman added that it was a great pleasure to see that instead of covering the wheelchair, the boutique decorated it with flowers. The window display looked so beautiful! You never see that in fashion. While the wedding clothes shops usually focus on physically healthy people, The White Collection Boutique took steps to stand out among others. They demonstrate that they are ready to work with any clients, regardless of their needs.

The woman said:

Mobility aids are often portrayed as negative things that people want to hide when actual mobility aids like wheelchairs give us freedom.

People praised the bridal boutique

Many people liked this wonderful idea.

Owner of the bridal shop Laura Allen revealed to TODAY that she had never expected such a reaction. When she planned to make a fashion display, the idea just sprung to her mind: Why not the mannequin in a wheelchair?

We love the fact that it's so simple compared to our window display before, yet it portrays such a powerful message of inclusion.

Such a response was astonishing.

Thу story proves how much the unique bridal display affected people with disabilities. That moment of recognition in fashion is erasing the boundaries between people. All brides, regardless of health issues, can satisfy their needs equally when preparing for the special day.
