6 Everyday Inventions That Were Designed By Women

Date December 22, 2017 13:21

For many years now, women have stood out in fields such as science and technology, often without ever having been recognized, but their work speaks for itself. The contributions they've made to the world are huge, and they've all made modern life easier.

Here we leave you with a list of products and devices created by women which, these days, we use more often than we think:

1. Disposable diapers

They were patented it 1951, and their creator is Marion Donovan. When she came up with the idea, the cover was made of waterproof fabric. She sold the patent and in 1961, the brand Pampers appeared, which remains a trusted brand today.

2. Windshield wipers

Mary Anderson designed the first windshield wiper prototype. The idea occurred to her during a snowstorm when she noticed people getting out of their vehicles to clean the snow off the glass. Her first prototype had a level inside the car, with which the windshield wipers could be moved.

3. Vacuum-sealed cans

Amanda Jones is responsible for the fact that today we're capable of keeping foods for longer than we could before the advent of vacuum-sealed cans.

Sarah Mather invented the underwater telescope and not only that, but she also invented the underwater light.

Stephanie Kwolek is a woman who has saved the lives of thousands. She invented poly-paraphenylene, a synthetic material also known as Kevlar, which acts as a resistance to steel. This material is also used in space technology.

You've surely heard many times about these objects, or even used them, without knowing that it was a woman who invented them. Although women have been fighting for liberty for many years, they've been showing their ability for a long time, sometimes even outdoing the work of men.
