5 Famous Couples Who Had Extravagant Weddings

Date December 19, 2017

Tying the knot is an important moment for almost all those who decide to go through with it. So many details to attend to make planning necessary, sometimes more than a year in advance. Celebrities are no exception to this rule. Some prefer to splurge and show off their spending power with outfits and other lavish expenses. Others do so in more unconventional ways.

Here you can see some of the most extravagant weddings, featuring these 6 celebrities. Some were much talked about at the time, but most still are today.

1. Yoko Ono and John Lennon, 1969

After almost 50 years, this wedding is still often talked about. John and Yoko knew that they wanted something different and didn't hesitate to make it happen. They both wore sneakers and Yoko used a short dress with long socks. Oh, and her tiara was a beautiful Pamela hat. Both wore the color white.

2. Mick Jagger and Bianca, 1971

This wedding is one of the most memorable, precisely because of the style of their outfits. Although both wore white, Bianca's neckline and accessories were unconventional. Once again, the Pamela hat won out over the diamond tiara.

3. Celine Dion and Rene Angélil, 1994

This, without a doubt, remains one of the most famous weddings, even more than 20 years later. One of the unforgettable details was Celine's dress. The train was 20 feet long and her tiara weighed 6 pounds and was crafted entirely out of Austrian diamonds. They say that the tiara was so heavy, that it had to be stitched onto her hair.

4. Victoria and David Beckham, 1999

They've been happily married for nearly 20 years now. Although they've changed quite a bit, they still look back fondly on the moment they tied the know. On their Instagram accounts, they posted photos of their wedding day to commemorate their 18th wedding anniversary.

The wedding was straight out of a fairy tale. They got married in a castle, Victoria used a 16-carat diamond tiara and, as if that weren't enough, both were sat on a golden throne.

5. Sofía Vergara and Joe Manganiello, 2015

This is one of the more recent unforgettable weddings, and for good reason. The Colombian beauty queen splurged on a romantic setting for her wedding day. From a spectacular wedding cake to a flower-filled forest setting which decorated the entire site.

These are some ideas if you decide to have an extravagant wedding party. Of course, for some, you'll need to pay a lot of money, especially if you plan on recreating a natural forest or sitting on a golden throne.
