Women go through many changes during their 40s, especially biologically. In spite of what many people think, the first transformations don't begin during menopause but during perimenopause.

This transition period takes place between the ages of 35 and 50. It's a gradual process and is different for every woman. One of the questions which women most often have is if, during this phrase, they can get pregnant. Doctors broadly agree that they can. In other words, as long as they have an ovulation cycle and menstruate, the possibility of conceiving continues to be real.

Another recurring doubt is how much time this transition phase lasts before menopause. The truth is that no doctor can establish a certain range of time. It is thought to last between 2 and 4 years. However, some women go through it for just a few months, while this period may last up to 10 years in others.

How to treat perimenopause?

1. The first thing is to eat a balanced diet: low in fat, high in fiber and antioxidants.

2. Perform physical and relaxation exercises.

3. Eat natural products for a better hormonal balance.

4. If necessary, the doctor may recommend essential fatty acids, amino acids, or complementary therapies.

5. In order to alleviate some symptoms, oral contraceptives or progestin may be prescribed.
