Queen Sofia is known as a sophisticated lady of refined manners, but in her most recent visit to her native Greece, the member of the Spanish Royal family loosened up and, judging by the pictures, enjoyed a night of partying.

This week, the Queen visited the island of Crete on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Heraklion Archaeological Museum. The Queen and her sister, Princess Irene, were invited to a conference on Eleutherna, an ancient Greek city. The sisters enjoyed the trip, with a detour for tasting the cuisine, visiting several historical sites, and celebrating the birthday of their brother Constantine II of Greece.

The island of Crete takes a special place in the heart of both sisters since it was one of the places where the royal family members took refuge before the threat of the Nazi invasion. Apparently, it was childhood memories that cheered Queen Sophia so much.

Both Sofia and her sister eagerly joined the party when it was time to dance the Pentozali - a traditional Cretan dance. In the video, both ladies seem to have a lot of fun in a circle holding the shoulders of their partners to perform some moves of the dance.
