Shame! Carolina Herrera Stigmatized Nudity, Specifically Calling Out J.Lo, Beyoncé, And Kim Kardashian

Date November 15, 2018

If there is a person whose reputation in the world of international fashion is hard to oversell, it must be designer of Venezuelan origin, Carolina Herrera. Her excellent work in haute couture has made her a favorite among many influential people and global-scale celebrities, such as Michelle Obama, Renée Zellweger, Nicole Kidman, and Angelina Jolie, among others.

Recently, the fashion designer has voiced her personal opinion on the modern trend in the world of celebrities who show too much of their bodies with revealing dresses, plunging cut-outs, and transparent fabrics.

Nudity is an obsession now

In an interview with The Washington Post, she scolded celebrities who barely wear any clothes to be fashionable. Designers who dress them were also on the receiving end of her unflattering remarks.

It’s so modern to be naked or almost naked. They think it’s going to attract younger people if they do those dresses. No!

She assures that there should remain a little mystery. Herrera is not a nun herself and is ready to make her clients happy with a deep neckline dress or a daring outfit.

However, she believes that it requires care and precision so that the attire really plays to the client’s advantage.

In the interview, she exemplified her point with the recent Costume Institute Gala. There, she specifically called out Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, and Kim Kardashian, whose dresses barely covered their private parts.

She went on to say that the attires showed too much of the artists’ bodies. Beyoncé simply wore mosquito netting.

Kim Kardashian put her curves on display but had a long train of white feathers.

Carolina Herrera summed up:

How can you be a fashion icon if you’re not wearing clothes?

What do you think about it? Do you think that these and other celebrities should be more restrained in fashion choices? Or do you think that nudity and daring outfits are interesting?
