From Riches To Prison? $338 Million Powerball Winner Is Facing Up To 20 Years In Jail

Date June 22, 2018

A man who won Powerball jackpot $338 million 5 years ago, has been charged with sexually assaulting a child.

A 20-year-old woman said Pedro Quezada repeatedly molested her when she was 11 - 14 years old. Now, Pedro is charged with multiple counts of felony sexual assault. Mr. Quezada, 49, is facing up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

In March 2013, Pedro Quezada won 338 million dollars in Powerball. He was 45 years old at the time and lived in New Jersey. He didn’t have any faintest idea what life had prepared for him.

In a public statement, his lawyer claimed that Pedro is innocent and the woman is trying to get some of the lottery winnings.

At the time no other victims came forward.

Quezada moved to the United States from the Dominican Republic 30 years ago, worked 15 hours a day in a warehouse before winning the lottery. His winnings roughly amounted to $152 million dollars after taxes.

Previously, Pedro Quezada was reported to have owed child support payments that go back to 2009.

He was also known to turn back on his word – the multimillionaire refused to pay the rent for all his neighbors as he had promised. In addition, a contractor sued him for allegedly not paying for the renovations of a house he had bought.

Child abuse is a very serious allegation, and if found guilty, he will have to pay for it with years in prison, not with his millions.
