According to scientific research, this choice can indicate a number of quite disagreeable personality traits, including psychopathy and sadism.

While there are many benefits of drinking coffee, a new study has found a correlation between the preference of bitter coffee and “everyday sadism.”
The study, led by professor Christina Sagioglou of the University of Innsbruck in Austria, found that people who had bitter tastes, such as black coffee or tonic water, were more likely to show signs of traits such as sadism, narcissism, and psychopathy.
The researchers also found that sympathy, kindness, and cooperation are inversely proportional to the taste for bitter foods.
