An 18-month-old baby boy was saved by a fisherman who found him in the water floating away from the beach. This curious case happened at Matata Beach in the North Island of New Zealand. Fisherman Gus Hutt confessed that he thought the child was a doll.
So, I reached out and grabbed him by the arm; even then I still thought it was just a doll. His face looked just like porcelain with his short hair wetted down, but then let out a little squeak and I thought 'oh God this is a baby and it's alive!'

After the baby was rescued and attended to by paramedics, Gus and his wife headed straight to the holiday camp where they were staying because it was the only place where the toddler could have come from.

It was easy to find his parents’ tent as they were the only ones staying with a child. The parents were shocked to hear that the life of their son was saved by pure chance. How did this happen? That's the most interesting part!

Apparently, it was the first time the little one was on the beach and he was fascinated by the vastness of the sea. So when the parents went to sleep, he somehow unzipped the tent, headed for the beach, and ended up floating straight into the open sea!
The baby’s adventure could have ended in a tragedy if it hadn’t been for Gus Hutt. On that day, he had decided to fish in a different spot than usual.

After a thorough examination, the medical workers concluded that the baby was fine!
