Thomas Markle Sr. and Prince Harry were recently announced to have a private conversation just before the wedding. The Duke of Sussex asked Meghan’s father about his daughter’s hand. The men also discussed some urgent political questions, including the Brexit experiment.
The long silence has been finally broken: Meghan Markle’s father Thomas gave an extensive interview on TV. The 73-year-old father of the royal revealed his feelings about the daughter’s new status:
She was beautiful. I cried a little watching her. I was very proud and I couldn’t see a better moment in my life.
He also told about the private conversation he had with Prince Harry and revealed the topics they were discussing with his son-in-law. First of all, the Duke of Sussex asked Thomas about Meghan’s hand, and Mr. Markle agreed but with one important request:
You are a gentleman, promise me you will never raise your hand against my daughter and of course I will grant you my permission.
Apart from the most important question, the two also discussed the political issues, particularly Donald Trump’s influence on the modern world:
Our conversations was I was complaining that I didn't like Donald Trump, he said give Donald Trump a chance. I sort of disagreed with that…That was his politics, I have my politics.
Moreover, Thomas and Harry mentioned quite a sticky subject for Britain in the recent years. The men talked about the Brexit experiment and also had their own opinions about it:
He [Harry] didn't know one way or the other, he was just saying he had to be open to it and see how it went.
While the entire world has been discussing the loud interview for a few days already, Kensington Palace refused to provide any comments on Thomas’ unexpected TV appearance and his comments on some of the topics.
We hope the two families will find a common language, and we will soon see Mr. Markle in London, visiting his daughter during some kind of formal party.
