Just a few days after their groundbreaking ceremony, the couple appeared together on their first official event.

There is one thing that puzzles many royal fans about the event: it is the fact that Charles’ actual birthday is on November 14. But because it is a milestone birthday for the future king of England, there are series of celebratory events to be held throughout the year to honor the occasion.

The list of guests for this particular celebration included 6,000 representatives from charities Prince Charles is working with as well as patronages and military officials. There were members of the emergency services who acted on the bombing terror attack at the Manchester Arena that took the lives of 22 people. The event marks the first anniversary of the tragedy.

Prince Harry gave a touching speech at the beginning of the celebrations, saying:

His enthusiasm and energy are truly infectious; it has certainly inspired William and I to get involved in issues we care passionately about and to do whatever we can to make a difference. In fact, many of the issues William and I now work on are subjects we were introduced to by our father growing up.

He continued:

His passion and dedication are remarkable and seeing so many of you here today, I cannot fail but to be in awe of the drive he has had for so many years, to contribute to the enrichment of society both in this country and around the world.

Prince Charles is not the only royal who celebrates his birthday more than once a year. The Queen also has both a public and an official birthday. Her actual birthday is on April 21, which she celebrates with her family members. The public celebration is held on a summer day when the weather forecast is nicer (yes, this is the main reason). It typically falls on the second Saturday in June.
