Poinsettia is the most popular Christmas plant and is often called “A Christmas star”. Large leaves resemble a star and look magnificent. In the natural environment they have a very beautiful bright red color.

Aztects, who lived on the territory of the present-day Mexico, were among the first admirers of poinsettia. Starting from the 16th century, after the discovery of America by Europeans, poinsettia is mentioned in the Christian religion.

There is a legend that tells the story of how the poinsettia came into being. It says that once there was a child, who wanted to buy a present for Jesus but didn’t have any money. So he decided to collect flowers for the Lord along the road. The kid believed that by giving a small bouquet from the loving heart he would become dear to God. When he brought flowers to the church they started to shine and one could see green and red lights that looked like starts. It was the sign that the real Christmas miracle has happened. Since that time, poinsettia blossoms every year in December and warms the souls of people with its lights.

In the 17th century Franciscan priests began to use poinsettia during the Christmas processions. It symbolized the Bethlehem star and its red color reminded the blood that was shed by the Lord during the crucifixion.

That is why poinsettia is considered to be an essential part of the Christmas decoration. It turned out that it takes just a little time and efforts to create a poinsettia wreath by yourself.

Here are the ingredients that are necessary for this tutorial:

  • felt;
  • scissors;
  • thread;
  • needle;
  • glue gun;
  • beads;
  • ribbons.

At first, it is necessary to cut the desired number of petals and blooms out of felt. After that, hot-glue parts together to create a flower. Beads should be put in the middle of the flowers. Also, the needle and thread can be used to stitch flowers together and create a wreath.
