Handmade ornaments and decorations can fill any place with a true Christmas spirit. And today, we will tell you how to make one of the most popular Christmas ornaments – a star – using common household items. These ideas are so easy to craft that even little kids can join the process.

Christmas stars made of sticks are, perhaps, one of the easiest holidays decorations. This type of ornaments is perfect for newbies and little kids because there is practically no way you can ruin it. Plus, you can use nearly any kind of materials: from cinnamon to ice cream sticks.

What are you going to need:

  • 5 same-sized sticks;
  • craft glue or rope;
  • glitter pens for decor.

All you have to do is to attach all the sticks to each other so that they will form a shape of a star, and then use either craft glue or a piece of rope to secure every corner. The glue works best for putting together ice cream sticks. If you are going to use round sticks of branches, then you'd better use rope.

#2. Wire stars

Making stars out of wire is a bit more difficult but the results are totally worth your effort. You are going to need the following tools and materials:

  • crafting wire of different thickness;
  • wire cutter;
  • small pliers;
  • beads and ribbon for decor;
  • paper and pencil for making a scratch.

Start by drawing a star on a list of paper. Use this scratch as a pattern for your future ornament. Take a piece of wire, make a small hanging loop and shape a star from the rest of the wire. Take a piece of a thinner wire and thread a few beads onto its loose end. Then, anchor one end of the wire under the hanging loop, and start wrapping it around the star. Change the directions from time to time, to make the shape of your ornament more balanced.

Tip: instead of a drawing, you can use a star-shaped cookie cutter as a pattern.

#3. 3D paper stars

  • 2 pieces of craft paper 6 x 6;
  • glue;
  • scissors;
  • bone folder;
  • pencil and ruler.

The whole process looks pretty much like crafting origami figures. Follow the instructions from the video below and you will see just how easy it is to make them.

The best thing about these handmade ornaments is that you don't have to spend a lot of time or money to make them. Plus, you can invite your family members to join you and turn it into a fun competition. Try each of these easy-to-craft ideas for Christmas star ornaments, and pick the one you like the most.
