Here's what you can do to get rid of dark circles:

1. Apply cucumber.

Cucumber is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a remedial eye mask. You can simply put cooled slices of cucumber over your eyes for 10 minutes or make a mask:

  • mix 1/2 tbsp. of finely grated cucumber, 1/2 tbsp. of finely chopped dill or coriander, and 1/2 tbsp. of sour cream;
  • apply the mixture on the skin under your eyes and leave it on for 15 minutes;
  • rinse the mask off with lukewarm water.

2. Use tea bags.

Tannins found in black and green tea can help improve the color of the skin under your eyes and relieve swelling. You can also use herbal teas, e.g. chamomile or mint tea. Here's how to apply it:

  • put 2 used tea bags in the fridge for about 30 minutes;
  • put a tea bag under each eye and leave them on for 10-15 minutes;
  • wash your face with cool or lukewarm water afterward.

3. Try raw potato.

Potato contains substances that can lighten the skin and reduce puffiness. You can use potato slices, like cucumber slices. Or you can make a mask:

  • grate one or two peeled raw potatoes and squeeze the juice from this mass;
  • soak two cotton balls in the juice and put them over your eyes making sure they cover the discolored areas, leave them on for 10 minutes;
  • wash the juice off with cool water.

4. Apply coconut or almond oil.

Coconut oil can improve discoloration under your eyes. Apply a little coconut oil (or almond oil, or a mixture of the two) under your eyes and leave it on for half an hour. Wash off the oil gently with cool water. It's important to note that applying oil on your skin too often can make it drier, so it's better to use oils diluted with water, not just pure oils.

5. Use tomatoes

Tomatoes can make the skin under your eyes look better. Before using tomatoes for your dark circles, do a skin patch test first. Here's how to apply tomato juice:

  • mix 1 tsp. of fresh tomato juice with 1/2 tsp. of lemon juice;
  • apply the mixture on the skin under your eyes and leave it on for 10 minutes (avoid direct sunlight for these 10 minutes, otherwise, this remedy won't be effective);
  • wash it off with cool or lukewarm water.

6. Apply rose water.

Rose water works well for any area of the skin, and the skin under the eyes is no exception. Rose water can make it look well-toned. Here's how to use rose water:

  • soak 2 cotton balls in rose water;
  • place them on the skin under your eyes and leave them on for 10 minutes.

Any of these remedies can be used daily, but they take time to work. Give any of it a week or two to produce noticeable results.
