Date March 23, 2018 17:32

As if there wasn’t enough uproar about Meghan Markle breaking royal traditions, she has done it again. This time, with her wedding cake. Meghan chose Claire Ptak, a pastry chef from London based Violet Cakes, to create the official wedding cake.

Traditionally, the palace prefers more moderate cake designs but not Meghan. Her cake is lemon elderflower treat, covered in buttercream.

Wedding invitations are finally out

After a long wait, invitations to the royal wedding have been sent out! The announcement was made on Thursday by Kensington Palace. On the official Twitter handle, it was announced that invitations "have been issued in the name of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales".

The picture shared on Twitter also captured some of the invitation cards. Each card featured The Three Feather Badge of The Prince of Wales on top in gold and black text for the rest of the card. The same gold ink was also used on the card borders.

However, no names were written on the cards, as this information remains private and was added before delivery.

Barnard & Westwood is responsible for printing the cards, as they have been associated with the royal family since 1985. Lottie Small, a recently graduated apprentice at the company, was tasked with printing the cards.

Shorter list than Prince William and Kate Middleton's one

About 600 guests will be attending Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding on Saturday, 19th May 2018. The official joining takes place at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. Reception follows afterward at St. George's Hall and is hosted by Queen Elizabeth II.

Like all royal events, there is a preferred dress code. The invitation card reads, "Dress: Uniform. Morning coat or lounge suit, day dress with hat."

Are the Obama’s invited?

Seeing as the guest list was not made public, it is unclear if the Obamas will be attending the ceremony. The Sun, however, has earlier reported that Prince Harry wants the Obamas at the wedding.

Furthermore, it is said that two of Prince Harry’s former girlfriends, Cressida Bonas and Chelsy Davy, are invited. Misha Nonoo, a person who introduced Prince Harry to Meghan Markle, is also expected to be at the wedding.
