Will Smith Shares Advice He Got From President Nelson Mandela

In 2008, Will Smith had the privilege to introduce Nelson Mandela on stage during the 46664 Concert in London's Hyde Park. The event was organized in support of the 46664 started by the former South African President. A similar event held 20 years earlier when Mandela celebrated his 70th birthday.


Smith first became associated with the 46664 Campaign in 2004 after he received a personal request from Mandela to become an ambassador. The actor said he would "humbly, gratefully and aggressively" answer the call.

Since then, Smith has lent his voice to the global fight against HIV and AIDS, especially in Africa.

Smith’s post serves as a reminder that people with influence can channel their popularity for good causes around the world.

Nelson Mandela passed on at the age of 95 on December 5, 2013. His death was celebrated all around the world.

The Nelson Mandela Foundation continues to promote the late icon’s drive for equality and freedom around the world.
