Bill Cosby's Accuser Choked Back Tears While Delivering Her Testimony Against The Actor

Date April 13, 2018

Bill Cosby is back in the courtroom, after the last year's mistrial of sexual allegations against him. Over 60 women came forward to tell about their 'experience' with the famous comedian. However, due to the statute of limitations, the prosecutors can only charge him for one case.

Nevertheless, this time around, five more women were allowed to testify against Cosby. He will be facing up to 10 years in prison if found guilty.

Painful look into the past

All stories that are being told during this trial are incredibly painful, but one of them even more so. One of the five new victims that got an opportunity to come to the stand, Chelan Lasha, was able to get to Cosby himself.

Lasha was invited to the courtroom and wasn't able to hold back tears from the beginning. She started telling how she met Bill Cosby in Las Vegas, where she was trying to start a modelling career as a teenage girl. He said he'd help her and even met her grandmother.

Cosby invited Chelan to his hotel, where he drugged her under the impression of giving her medicine for the cold. Lasha was feeling under the weather, so she was very grateful for such kind gesture. Of course, the drugs were something completely different, and Lasha was sexually assaulted by the man she trusted.

It was difficult for Chelan to recall her story while fighting back tears. When her testimony was finished, Lasha turned to her attacker and said: "You remember, don’t you, Mister Cosby." Bill let out a slight smile but quickly caught himself and returned to his serious state.

The trial is different this time

A year ago, the social climate was very different from what it is today. The Cosby trial was the first one before the explosion of multiple sexual assault allegations against such celebrities as Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey happened. These events gave start to the #MeToo movement, which fights to bring an end to the sexual crimes against people, women in particular.

Lawyers and prosecutors believe that the jurors are definitely under the influence of the current social environment. It might mean a very bad thing for Bill Cosby, but sometimes, you need to pay your dues.
