George and Amal Clooney are a couple that defined public's expectations. When they met, he was a 51-year-old Hollywood old-timer, and she was a successful 35-year-old international lawyer. But, despite the age difference and the opposite careers, these two fell deeply in love.
George's point of view
Anyone who'd heard about George Clooney knew that he was opposed to marriage, and said he would never do it again. The actor was briefly married in the beginning of the 90s, before his career took off. Little did he know that he would get smitten by a goddess in less than six months.
They first met in Italy. He was spending time at his house at Lake Como, and she was on her way to Cannes. What were George's first thoughts about Amal? "I thought she was beautiful," he said. Did he think she felt the same? "She probably thought I was old," George added.
After their initial meeting, they stayed in touch. Not long after, George invited Amal to see him in London. They spent several weeks there together, before going on a safari in Kenya. After that, he knew he was going to propose.
Amal's point of view
Amal's view on marriage was both similar and different to George's. She was at the point of her life where she wanted the love that would happen naturally. With her career and already being 35, Amal wasn't sure it was going to happen for her at all.
When she met George, the feeling was instant. “It felt like the most natural thing in the world,” Amal said. She was able to find time in her busy schedule to be with him. After going on the fateful safari in Kenya, she also knew she finally found the one.
It all came together
Amal and George got married in 2014, shortly after they first met. In 2017, the happy couple welcomed their twins, Ella and Alexander. The family often spends time in their house at Lake Como in Italy.
Maybe, the Clooneys will take their kids on the similar safari some time in the future? We think they should.
