The Nirvana singer was found in a room above the garage of his Seattle home in 1994. The further investigation determined that the rock star took his own life three days earlier.

The singer had the 20-gauge shotgun lying across his chest with which he ended his existence. By that time, Kurt had been missing for six days. His body was discovered by an electrician, who came to the house to install a security system. After a medical examination, it was discovered that there was a high concentration of heroin and traces of Valium in the singer’s bloodstream. His friends commented later:

He was a walking time bomb, and nobody could do anything about it.

On April 5, 2018, Nirvana’s members, drummer Dave Grohl and bassist Krist Novoselic, took to their Twitter to pay tribute to the late singer, guitarist, and songwriter with a short but sweet message:

Dear Kurt—We miss you.

The former band members weren’t the only people who remembered Kurt Cobain on the tragic anniversary. The singer’s only child, 25-year-old Frances Bean Cobain, posted a video of her first-ever original song with the lyrics that brings back to memory of her father’s often dark oeuvre.

Cobain’s wife Courtney Love also paid homage to the singer as well as the number of fans.

On the same day, 14 years ago another grunge icon passed away. Alice in Chains brilliant but troubled frontman Layne Staley was found dead from a drug overdose in his Seattle home.

Despite their passing, the cultural legacy of these talented singers is still alive and will continue to live through their work, fans, friends, and family.
