The mother of Princes William and Harry, who died at the age of 36 in 1997 due to a car crash, surpassed real and fictional characters, including Mother Teresa, Michelle Obama, Mary Poppins, and Marge Simpson.

“My own mother" option took the second place, followed by Mother Theresa and the Queen coming fourth. According to the poll, men were more likely to choose their own mothers, while women preferred the Princess of Wales.

Diana’s devoted sons William and Harry spoke openly about her for the first time in a documentary about her life. Prince Harry described the late princess as "the best mum in the world".

The Duchess of Cambridge was also mentioned as one of the choices as well as Molly Weasley, the mother of Ron Weasley in J.K. Rowling's “Harry Potter” novels.

Prince William commented on his mother’s personality:

She was very informal and really enjoyed the laughter and the fun. She understood that there was a real life outside of Palace walls.

The poll was carried out by ComRes and had 2,000 participants. It also contained a question about the most important thing that their mothers had done for them. One in three mentioned that their mothers always provided them with the needed support, others said that their moms taught them to do the right thing.

It’s great to know that people appreciate their moms beyond the stereotype of cooking and cleaning.
