The American beauty chose a pastry chef Claire Ptak from bakery Violet Cakes, situated in London, to do the honors of making the official wedding cake.

The royal couple chose a lemon elderflower cake, embodied with buttercream. The magnificent and delicious creation will incorporate real fresh flowers.

The choice is quite modern, considering that traditionally royalty prefers fruits cakes.

Prince William and Kate Middleton presented to their guests an eight-tier fruitcake decorated with leafs and flowers made by baker Fiona Cairns. The groom made a special request to make a second chocolate cookie cake by McVitie's Cake Company.

Late Princess Diana and Prince Charles offered 27 cakes at their wedding. Most of the delicious goods were donated by royal watchers. The official 5ft high wedding cake was made by chef David Avery of the Royal Naval Cookery School.

The Queen and Prince Philip presented a show-stopper to celebrate their wedding - a 9ft tall, four-tier cake. It was said that the giant tasty creation was made by McVitie and Price Ltd.

Recently, Kensington Palace broke the news:

Claire Ptak, who was raised in California, focuses on using seasonal and organic ingredients in her cakes. Ms. Markle previously interviewed Chef Ptak for her former lifestyle website The Tig.

Claire Ptak owns Violet bakeries in Hackney, East London. She likes to create her tasty goodies with a “rustic” finish.

She took to her social media to express her excitement:

Kinda excited to announce this one!! Violet has been chosen to make the wedding cake for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. @kensingtonroyal They both share so many of the same values regarding food provenance, sustainability, seasonality and of course, flavour! Xxx

We can’t wait to get a glimpse of her creation, inspired by the freshness of spring.
