Why Oprah Winfrey Decided Not To Have Children?

Oprah has an incredibly successful career of a media proprietor, talk show host, actress, producer, and philanthropist.
I didn’t want babies. I wouldn’t have been a good mom for babies. I don’t have the patience. I have the patience for puppies, but that’s a quick stage!
Oprah has been dubbed as “mother to the world’s children”, as she founded the Leadership Academy for Girls in 2007 based in South Africa. She serves as a resident mother figure for the 172 girls who attend the Academy.
It is more rewarding than I would ever have imagined. I was doing this to help them, but it has brought a light to my life that I can’t explain. When people were pressuring me to get married and have children, I knew I was not going to be a person that ever regretted not having them, because I feel like I am a mother to the world’s children.
Love knows no boundaries. It doesn’t matter if a child came from your womb or if you found that person at age two, 10, or 20. If the love is real, the caring is pure and it comes from a good space, it works.
This isn’t the first time that the talk show host opened up about her decision not to have kids. In 2013, she told The Hollywood Reporter:
If I had kids, my kids would hate me. They would have ended up on the equivalent of The Oprah [Winfrey] Show talking about me; because something [in my life] would have had to suffer, and it would've probably been them.
Previously, Oprah opened up about the loss of the premature baby she had at 14:
I have named him, I had a little boy named Canaan. I did have a son. And I named him Canaan because Canaan means new land, new life.
She got pregnant as a result of being sexually abused by her family members. Now, she is a strong successful woman, who opened her heart to children all over the world, just not to her own.
Do you think Oprah would have been a good mom?
