Date February 20, 2018

It has been a busy month for Duchess Catherine! The day after the 71st BAFTAs ceremony, Kate Middleton attended the Commonwealth Fashion Exchange event at Buckingham Palace. And she was accompanied by another representative of the British royal family – the wife of Prince Edward, the 53-year-old Countess of Wessex, Sophie.

What is the event all about?

Actually, this event is of huge importance in the fashion world. Established and emerging artisans and designers from Commonwealth’s 53 countries come together to exchange skills and create new looks. Among the talents, there were such famous names as Burberry, Stella McCartney, Bibi Russell, and many more.

Outshining other guests

Although there were other prominent guests, such as Anna Wintour and Naomi Campbell, all eyes were on the Duchess of Cambridge and her growing baby bump. She looked absolutely gorgeous and fresh in her black-and-white Erdem dress with floral print.

Kate completed her look with elegant high-heel shoes and a simple clutch bag. As for her hairstyle, the duchess opted for her trademark voluminous locks.

Stealing the show at the BAFTAs

We all know William’s wife looks stunning in almost everything. But many people weren’t satisfied with Catherine’s look at the 2018 BAFTAs ceremony. To stand against sexual assault and harassment, almost all female A-listers wore black. But Kate rocked a dark green gown.

And there’s a simple reason she did that. Being a royal family member, she is supposed to be neutral, without supporting any movements. What is more, the royals often avoid wearing black, unless it’s Remembrance Day or a funeral.
