Regis Philbin's Retirement Is All About Being Healthy, Enjoying Life, And Spending Time With Family

Regis Philbin has been struggling with heart and cholesterol issues for years. In 2007, America’s most on-camera television personality underwent an open-heart surgery. And more than a decade later, he is happy to open up about his current health situation.

How is he feeling right now?

In an interview with Closer Weekly, the 86-year-old reveals that his health is now better than ever. The experience of having a surgery led Philbin realize that he needed to make big lifestyle choices.

Before he underwent it, the talk show host was not very disciplined when it came to his diet. He often ate oatmeal raisin cookies and cheeseburgers, which he had to give up due to high cholesterol levels. Today, Philbin sticks to a healthy diet, opting for vegetables and chicken for dinners.

Besides, the TV personality has changed his exercise regimen. He works out at a gym to help his muscle tone and strength. He also does cardio and adds even more exercises to his heart rate up.

Surely, Philbin is still on daily statin medication and sees his doctor more often. He has also joined the Take Cholesterol to Heart campaign to raise the awareness of other people. As he says:

I hope to encourage people learn more about statins and share tips on having the statin conversation with their doctor.

The host clearly enjoys retirement. He frequently travels to spend time with his children, plays tennis with his wife, and spends quality time with friends, such as Kathie Lee Gifford.
