In the last couple of years, Kathie Lee Gifford suffered a gruesome loss. And not only one! In 2015, she lost her beloved husband, Frank Gifford, with whom she shares two children. As if it was not enough, the television host’s mother has passed away in 2017. Now, Kathie is still struggling with loneliness.

On losing her family members

It looked like the former New York Giant’s star died of natural causes. After all, he was 84. But his family later revealed he suffered from a chronic condition that might be connected to his sports career and head traumas.

Of course, Gifford was devastated after the loss of her husband of almost 30 years. But misfortunes never come singly. In two years, her mother has passed away in her sleep:

My precious mother, JOANNIE went home to JESUS & my DADDY this morning.

Inspirational message for each of us

After all this time, Kathie decided to reveal how she copes with loneliness. She lives alone in a house full of memories from the past. Gifford’s children live far away from her, and she has no one by her side. To get through the toughest days, the TODAY co-anchor relies on faith and puts things in perspective. She says:

I’ve discovered that if I just keep thinking about what I’ve lost, I don’t pay any attention to what I still have.

And she advises her viewers to see good in life and embrace their individuality. A good advice, isn’t it?

On parenting style

Although she’s friends with her children, Kathie has a unique parenting style where she’s careful with her choice of words. It might be surprising, but she never says she’s proud of them due to a biblical reference.

Pride comes before the fall. A good book says that.

Instead, the family coined a new word, by combining ‘God’ and ‘proud’ - ‘groud.’

Gifford is grateful for everything that’s happening in her life, and this is a great advice we can follow.
