Oscar-Winning Actress Dorothy Malone Dies At 92 In Her Hometown Of Dallas

Dorothy Malone, an actress known to us for her roles in such famous and beloved movies as Written on the Wind and series Peyton Place, died on Jan. 19 in an assisted-living facility in her hometown of Dallas. She almost made it to her 93rd birthday on Jan. 30.
The news about her death shocked lots of us when her manager, Burt Shapiro, announced it. Her daughter, Mimi Vanderstraaten, commented that her mother died from natural causes.
The actress began her career in Hollywood at the dawn of the studio era. These were the 40s, and the demand for such an actress as Dorothy Malone was huge. She had a chance to try herself in lots of multifaceted roles and genres. Dorothy played her roles in musicals, dramas, westerns, and other kinds of movies.
