‘It Stinks Of Selling Tickets’: Rod Stewart Comments On Elton John’s Farewell Tour

Several months ago, Elton John has announced his farewell tour that is about to begin in autumn. Soon, he will release two cover albums and perform with some of the biggest stars in the music sphere: Miley Cyrus and Keith Urban.

When Rod Stewart, Elton John’s longtime friend, came to Bravo's Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, he was asked for opinion regarding Elton John’s farewell tour.

Rod Stewart said:

I did email her and said, 'What, again dear? And I didn't hear anything back!

He also added:

I've never spoken about retirement, and if I do retire, I won't make an announcement. I'll just fade away.

Besides, Rod noted that the announcement of Elton John’s retirement "stinks of selling tickets."

Cyndi Lauper, who was on the show together with Rod Stewart, made a little joke:

We could say, 'For the last time, we are retiring.' And then one more time. 'Well...maybe the second to last time.

Rod Stewart also commented on the situation that happened with Elton John during one of his concerts. A fan put his hands on the piano keys during the song, so he decided to walk offstage.

I sort of understand, because the person kept [tapping him],I don't mind it. I love people coming up on stage. It's a laugh, but I can see why he was pissed off with it. I've had people come on stage while I was singing and I've nearly had me teeth knocked out.

What do you think about Elton John’s farewell tour? Is he really planning to retire?

Rod is a happy father of eight children. Of course, it is not easy, and he had some hard time building relations with all of them. Nevertheless, he says that being able to look at children is “the best, proudest feeling”. And we totally agree with Rod!
