'Sex And The City' Star Cynthia Nixon Officially Announced Her Campaign For NY Governor
Are you excited to see the candidate for NY governor? It’s Cynthia Nixon. You most likely know her from the TV series Sex and the City. Recently, the actress officially announced her candidacy.
We remember her as the lawyer Miranda Hobbes from Sex and the City who has proven that girls run this world. However, can she prove that in real life? Nixon announced her campaign for governor of New York on March 19th.
Cynthia and Christine
If she wins elections for office, Cynthia Nixon will become not only the first female governor of New York but also the first openly bisexual one. And it seems that Cynthia’s wife, Christine Marinoni, is the captain of the ship.
The couple began dating back in 2004, and eight years later, in 2012, they got married. Christine is an LGBT advocate as well as Cynthia and a former adviser for community partnerships, as she has been working with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. She resigned on March 13th.
In Cynthia Nixon’s recent video presentation of her priorities, the candidate stated:
We want our government to work again, on healthcare, ending mass incarceration, fixing our broken subway. We are sick of politicians who care more about headlines and power than they do about us. It can't just be business as usual anymore.
She also continued with following:
In 2018, each one of us has to do whatever we can to take the government back. If we want change, we have to go out ourselves and seize it.

It is possible for Cynthia Nixon to win, as she found huge support from the people not only because of her acting career but also because of her principles and priorities:
So she shouldn’t run given her background? Interesting. She’s been an activist for many, many years and has fought tirelessly for the rights of everyone whilst providing for her family. I think it’s time for a fresh new face! Cynthia would get my vote! She genuinely cares.

I am so proud of @CynthiaNixon , no one cares more than she does about EVERY person getting a fair change and a good education. I know that she would be an excellent Governor ! https://t.co/xEAyRxFBb8

However, some people find it absolutely ridiculous that the actress runs for the governor:
I hate to say this to @CynthiaNixon but enough of TV personalities, actors and actresses running for political office. Political office requires much more than a successful TV show on a CV.

Oh god, please no more celebrities for anything. Anything. Please.

Just cuz you were part of a successful TV series doesn't mean you'd be a good governor! Ridiculous!

At the end of the day, it is important that the positive changes occur, and it doesn’t really matter if it is going to be Cynthia who will make it or anybody else.
What do you think of Cynthia Nixon as a governor? Is it a good choice?
