Date March 5, 2018

The anti-sexual abuse movement, #MeToo, seems to be the center topic in Hollywood nowadays. There have been many horrible stories from the brave Hollywood women about sexual misconduct. However, today’s story is about the side, which is defending against accusations, and it is rather humiliating.

Words out of context

Harvey Weinstein’s lawyers did something truly pathetic. They used statements of two women, Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lawrence, to generalize Mr. Weinstein’s personality and behavior and make him look good. Basically, they took out the words of the context and tried to use them in the court.

Meryl Streep once publicly stated that "Harvey had always shown respect to her in their work." And Jennifer Lawrence’s told on Oprah’s show that "Weinstein had only ever been nice to her."

By those comments, we can understand that Weinstein was respectful to these two ladies. However, that has nothing to do with his attitude towards any other woman.

Jennifer responded rather aggressively but on point:

For the record, while I was not victimized personally by Harvey Weinstein, I stand behind the women who have survived his terrible abuse and I applaud them in using all means necessary to bring him to justice whether through criminal or civil actions. Time’s up.

Harvey Weinstein apologizes

Harvey Weinstein responded with apologies and assurance that neither he nor his attorneys would use specific names in the future:

...Mr. Weinstein has directed in the future that no specific names be used by his counsel, even where those actors have made previous public statements about him. Mr. Weinstein acknowledges the valuable input both Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lawrence have contributed to this conversation and apologizes. - his spokesperson said.

Uma Thurman is one of the Harvey's victims

It seems that there is one more victim of Harvey Weinstein’s sexual abuse, who finally broke the silence. It is Uma Thurman, who recently confessed to The New York Times about an attack by the infamous mogul.

He pushed me down. He tried to shove himself on me. He tried to expose himself. He did all kinds of unpleasant things.

We are sure that Harvey Weinstein is going to pay for his crimes. And we praise all women fighting against sexual harassment. The world has to become a better place to live in!
