History of "The Prayer"

'The Prayer's which was released on the 1st of March 1999 by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli, is a popular song which was written and composed by David Foster, Carole Bayer Sager, Alberto Testa and Tony Renis.


This amazing song which has gone ahead to win numerous awards and nominations was first recorded as two versions with Celine singing the English version and Andrea the Italian version. Ever since the release of the song, both Dion and Bocelli have sung the song with other artists and have recorded both a solo and duet version of the song.

In 2011, Celine Dion joined Andrea Bocelli on stage his concerto: One Night in Central Park. During the concert, Andrea Bocelli dedicated the song to the memory of Elizabeth Taylor whom he had great admiration and love for.

In a night to celebrate Celine and her music, she recalls the first time she met Josh Groban whom she describes as a shy and nervous 17year old kid that looks like he's 12; with curly hair. But the moment he opens his mouth and sing, it's magical.

Eight years after her first encounter with Josh, she invites him on stage for a moving performance of the song 'The Prayers". Which was beautifully performed by both artists with Josh singing in Italian.
