Tears Of Joy: Ellen DeGeneres' Wife Surprised Her With A Touching Birthday Gift
Ellen DeGeneres is known for her hilarious pranks, unexpected gifts, and funny dances. But on her 60th birthday, she was surprised by her wife, Portia de Rossi.
Portia made an unexpected appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show presenting a stunned star with a touching gift saying that she wanted to give her something that would represent “who you are and what you really care about.”
She showed a video clip that talks about Ellen's hero, a scientist Dian Fossey, who studied mountain gorillas in Rwanda and was tragically killed. After her death, her work continues to be made by the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.
De Rossi tells that even though Ellen didn’t get to meet Fossey in person, she can still be a part of her legacy.
So for your birthday, Ellen, I am bringing you and your hero Dian together by building the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.
The campus will not only be a center for tourism and education, it will also continue to work on the scientific research. Portia definitely made the right choice of gift as both women wipe away their tears of joy.
It’s hard to believe that energetic TV host turned 60. Many stars sent their birthday wishes to her, including Bono, Meryl Streep, and even Hillary Clinton.
Portia (whose real name is Amanda Lee Rogers) married to DeGeneres in 2008, but they started dating in 2004.
After almost 10 years of marriage, Ellen and Portia still love and appreciate each other.
Portia and I constantly say to each other, ‘We are so lucky’. Sometimes it’s lying in bed at night before I go to sleep, and I just say thank you to whatever, whoever is out there.
The stars will celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary in August 2018.
