2018 SAG Awards Paid Tribute To David Cassidy, Della Reese, And Other Movie Luminaries Who Passed Away In 2017

It is truly a sad and unfortunate occurrence, but each and every one of late stars will continue to be remembered and honored in our hearts.

SAG honored several fallen stars we lost in 2017

Felicity Huffman's words

During the 2018 SAG Awards, the fallen stars were honored, and Felicity Huffman began the evening with such beautiful words saying,

Tonight, as we recognize the performances of our peers, we also celebrate some dear friends whose contributions to our art form are everlasting. Though no longer with us, their work will continue to captivate audiences around the world and to bring eternal honor to our profession. Now join us in remembrance of just a few of our union’s most enduring talents.

They will surely be missed.

Who was on the list?

David Cassidy, Della Reese, Bill Paxton, Don Rickles, and others were on the list.

1. David Cassidy

The amazing singer and actor of “The Partridge Family” show will be remembered for his hard work and talent. He died last year due to liver failure, at 67. He will forever be missed.

2. Della Reese

Della was an American jazz and gospel singer, actress, and ordained minister, famous for her amazing voice and acting skills. In the 1960s, she became the host of her very own talk show. She died at the age of 86 on November 19, 2017.

3. Robert Guillaume

Guillaume was an African-American actor. He acted in a number of shows, including Sports Night, Soap, and Benson. Guillaume won the Emmy Awards twice, and he also won a Grammy Award in 1995. He was such a sensational actor.

4. Bill Paxton

American actor and director appeared in the films Terminator, Titanic, Night Crawler, and other well known and loved movies. He received three Golden Globes nominations and was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.

Fans wonder why Mary Tyler Moore wasn't included

After the segment aired, many twitted about why the 2018 SAG Memorial list didn’t include the amazing actress Mary Tyler Moore. Mary was well known for her roles in the television sitcoms, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show, and many others. She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. Mary was a talented actress and will be remembered for her amazing work.

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation Twitter account later tweeted,

They came, they saw, and they conquered.

Even though these eminent luminaries are no longer present with us physically, we take absolute solace in the legacy they have left behind.
