'I Can't Wait To Start A Family, But In Due Time': Meghan Markle's Words About Children

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle probably are not the ideal picture of a royal British couple, at least not the traditional picture. They have caused many a stir since their relationship began. Meghan is known for her trendy fashion choices which have been known to depart well from the understated look that the monarchy prefers.

Together they attended a Wheelchair Tennis match during the Invictus Games 2017 at Nathan Philips Square, Toronto, Canada, on September 25, 2017.

Prince Harry, on the other hand, is almost always comfortably dressed. Mentioning their differences in estate and birth would be an overkill. Still, it does make them unique. Prince Harry would not be the first royal in history to get married to an artist. But despite the oddities, they still make a beautiful couple.

She wants babies, but when?

Amidst the hullabaloo surrounding their wedding, talk of babies has come up several times. Meghan at an interview with Best Health Canada in April of 2016 (this was before she officially announced that she and Harry were dating), spoke about her desire to become a mom. She said:

I can't wait to start a family, but in due time.

In a later interview granted to Lifestyle magazine later in the year, Meghan seemed a bit more vocal about her plans for a family in the future.

I also dream to have a family. It's all about balance, and I have so much happiness in my career and am fortunate to travel the world and see so many amazing things — it will also be nice to be anchored to something grounded and in the same place. Raising a family will be a wonderful part of that.

Prince Harry more or less echoed Meghan. The couple sat for a televised interview on November 27, just after their engagement announcement at Kensington Palace. They were asked questions about their relationship. Both spoke candidly about shared interests and their busy schedules, among other things.

Again, the issue of babies came up. Prince Harry had this somewhat awkward response.

Children? Not currently no…one step at a time and hopefully we'll start a family in the near future.

Looking to the future

We take that as a confirmation that there is not going to be a royal baby just yet, surely not before the wedding. How soon after is the question on everybody’s lips.

Meghan Markle was married to Trevor Engelson from 2011 to 2013, but had no children from the relationship. But clearly, she plans to have some with the dashing Prince Harry.
