Elephants are fondly called ‘gentle giants’. With their lumbering gait and swaying trunks, they can be a delight. Baby elephants are especially adorable, and it takes a lot of heart to resist their charm.
However, elephants like all other wild animals can be pretty unpredictable. And one unsuspecting tourist in Thailand found out the hard way.
Hannah Frenchick from West Virginia visited the Patara Elephant Farm in Chiang Mai, Thailand in October last year. While playing with the baby elephant, Hanna got a surprise head-butt. The cute elephant then sat on Hanna and kept leaning in for cuddles.
In the end, Hannah was all muddied up. She was not hurt, but it’s unlikely she will be over close to another elephant soon.
They really love to cuddle
Caretaker Allie got her own dose of cuddly love when a 2-week-old calf literally collapsed in her arms for a prolonged hugging session. This cute clip was captured at the Chai Lai Orchid, a nature reserve in the Thai mountain range.
The adorable elephant named Ele had never hugged Allie before, so this was indeed a special moment. Allie had been her caretaker since the day she was born.
