In six decades, Sir Tom Jones has sold over 100 million records worldwide. From humble Welsh roots to international superstar, his charisma and charm make him one of the most admired musicians till date.
At just 24, he relocated to London. And in less than a year, his hit song "It's Not Unusual" was a staple at the nation’s chart shows, peaking at number one.
Back on tour
This July, the iconic jazz singer will be performing at selected locations in the UK. Euston Hall near Thetford is among the venues earmarked for the tour.
Last year, the legendary singer staged a concert in the region. However, the event was marked by some controversy. A traffic gridlock saw fans disappointed as they were unable to reach the event venue.
Organizers are not expecting a repeat performance of last years’ disaster. Tickets will go on sale this Friday from 9 am at ticketmaster.co.uk
Tom Jones: Over the Top and Back
With a sterling career that has produced some incredibly popular songs, it is only expected that Jones would come around to writing his memoirs. Tom Jones: Over the Top and Back captures the life and times of the prolific singer.
Jones was married at 16 and is still with the same woman decades later. Jones recounts:
She knew that I wanted to be a singer when we were kids — and then, of course, we found out about the birds and the bees together.
His wife continues to motivate Jones in his career. Recently, he says she asked him questions about a possible retirement. But clearly, Jones is far away from dropping the microphone.
His new album, Long Lost Suitcase, is a collection of songs with styles ranging from pop, rock, soul, RnB, dance, country, to gospel.
