Prince William Has A New Private Secretary: Simon Case

Miguel Head has stepped down as Private Secretary to Prince William. Head occupied the position since December 2012. Before working with Prince William, Head worked at Royal Household, starting from September 2008.

Head had been a noticeable figure in Prince William and Kate Middleton’s entourage for the past 5 years. He was tasked with managing the prince’s itinerary and scheduling of engagements.


On a personal level, he was also close to the family. After Prince George was born in July 2013, Head was one of the first employees to visit the young prince.

Simon Case is filling his shoes

Simon Case CVO has been appointed as Prince William’s new Private Secretary. Before his appointment, Case served as Director General Northern Ireland and Ireland in the Department for Exiting the European Union.

A seasoned civil servant, he has occupied several other roles prior. In 2012, he occupied a temporary position as Head of the Olympic Secretariat. He also has a wealth of experience working within the Ministry of Defence.

His first position was as a political adviser. Then, in 2015, he became Director of Strategy at the GCHQ. In addition, he served as Principal Private Secretary for the Prime Minister. His tenure found him working with both David Cameron and Theresa May.

The duchess had her own change last year

In October 2017, the Duchess of Cambridge also made a change in her staff. Catherine Quinn took over the role of Private Secretary from Rebecca Priestley, née Deacon.


Before her appointment, Quinn worked at the University of Oxford's Saïd Business School.
