His wife, Sophie Wessex, and their children, Lady Louise Windsor and James, were there as well. This was one of the rare occasions when his children appeared in public. Their parents usually keep them away from official functions. However, they always show up for larger family gatherings like the annual Easter Sunday Service.

Lady Louise injured during ski trip and now uses crutches

The royal family had to cut short in St. Moritz, Switzerland after Lady Louise was injured in a freak accident. While skiing, she took a tumble and eventually suffered what is believed to be a fracture. After the fall, she was helped off the slopes by staff of the resort.

Sophie Wessex is the Queen’s favorite in-law

Sophie Wessex may have had humble beginnings, but her marriage to Prince Edward has done a lot to improve her status. Since joining the royal family, she has grown to be one of the most trusted confidantes of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

A royal source revealed:

She is trusted and relied on by the Queen in a way I couldn't say applied to the Duchess of Cambridge or the Duchess of Cornwall. She is like another daughter to Her Majesty, they are that close.

Last year, she traveled in the same car with Her Majesty to the Christmas service at Sandringham.

The source further revealed that in many ways, Her Majesty regards Sophie Wessex in much the same light as she did her late sister, Princess Margaret.

Sophie has filled a terrible gap in the Queen's life that was left when her sister and the Queen Mother died in 2002.

In addition, she also shares a love for military history with Her Majesty. They have been known to spend hours delving through the military archives at Windsor Castle.
