Michelle Obama Took A Swipe At President Trump’s Social Media Habits In The Classiest Way Possible

Date February 28, 2018

Melania Trump recently spoke about the problem of cyberbullying and said that adults should set an example for children in developing positive social media habits. The irony is that her husband made a habit of attacking and insulting people online via Twitter.

The former First Lady Michelle Obama addresses the same issue and took a subtle swipe at Donald Trump‘s Twitter skills. She talked about the dangers of Twitter, which she still considers a mystery.

She said during a panel at Klick Health’s MUSE New York event:

I don’t just tweet off the top of my head, which I don’t encourage people to do ― especially kids. How many kids do you know that the first thing that comes off the top of their head is the first thing they should express? You know? It’s like, ‘Take a minute. Talk to your crew before you put that [out there] and then spell check and check the grammar.

She continued:

I think kids do think telling it like it is and talking off the top of your head [is cool]… [but] that’s never been good. We weren’t raised like that. That’s rude. That’s what you call rude. But yes I use social media. But I use it like a grownup.

Michelle did a similar dig at President Trump’s Twitter skills in November during The Economics of Equality: Advancing Women and Girls to Change the World event, when she shared some advice saying that editing and spellchecking are important.

Her husband, Barack Obama, isn’t happy with social media, mainly Facebook and Google, either.

He said that they have a responsibility to serve the public because they are ‘shaping our culture in powerful ways’.
