Can a true happiness and euphoria cure the terminal prognosis? 92-year-old Jean Roper from Alabama is a living proof that it can.
Just two month ago, Jean was given only two or three weeks to live. The woman was dying of kidney failure, and there was nothing that doctors could do to save her.
Jean’s 24-year-old great-granddaughter, Kayla Tracy, recalls how hard it was for the whole family to realize that their loving member won’t be with them anymore. She said:
She’s always been the heart of our family.
But something miraculous happened later. Kayla’s 21-year-old sister, Amber Harris, was pregnant with her first child and was about to give birth. She told Jean that the baby is a girl, which will be her first great-great-granddaughter, and that she decided to name her in Jean’s honor.
On the next day after receiving happy news, Jean’s condition started to change for better. Kayla comments:
She was over the moon with excitement and she kept telling everyone, ‘I just want to live long enough to see that baby girl.’
Jean and her 94-year-old husband Edward have three children, seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren, but almost all of them are males.
The notion that she will soon have a great-great-granddaughter became a medicine to Jean. She was suffering from depression after losing her oldest son to the disease that almost took her life, too. But everything completely changed almost overnight.
Magnolia Jean was born on January 21 without even realizing that she already saved someone’s life. Jean says:
She absolutely helped me to survive and pull through my diagnosis.
Now, Jean is happy and healthy with no signs of kidney disease that almost ended her existence. On March 5, she and her husband celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary.
