The happy couple announced their engagement in November. Now, their big wedding is around the corner, and with the Queen finally giving her official approval, there’s hardly anything that can stop it.

The monarch expressed her consent in a letter to the Privy Council at Buckingham Palace. Copies of the document were published on Twitter, in which the Queen called Prince Harry as a "most dearly beloved grandson". She wrote:

My Lords, I declare my Consent to a Contract of Matrimony between My Most Dearly Beloved Grandson Prince Henry Charles Albert David of Wales and Rachel Meghan Markle, which consent I am causing to be signified under the Great Seal and to be entered in the Books of the Privy Council.

The question that we would like to ask Her Majesty is what took her so long?

The date of the wedding was officially confirmed as May 19. The couple will tie the knot at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.

The royals will be inviting the public members "from every corner of the United Kingdom". It was reported that more than 2,600 people will get the invitation, including the lucky 1,200 members of the public, who will have amazing views of the happy bride and groom.
