Drew Barrymore Says She Was In A ‘Dark Place’ After Divorce And Shares How She Got Through It

For Drew Barrymore, her divorce from Will Kopelman was a real shock. The actress had a rocky upbringing, so she wanted to raise her children, daughters Olive and Frankie, in a traditional family with two married parents. Divorce was one of Drew’s greatest fears. And after it, the star felt like a failure. As she says:

When you break up with somebody, you're like, ‘Yeah, that didn't work.’ When you get divorced, you're like, ‘I'm the biggest failure.’

So, how did she cope with it?


To get through the dark time, Barrymore returned to her acting career. When she was reading the script of the Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet, she realized that work might be the best remedy. And it actually is! Returning to work boosted the actress' confidence and helped her start a new chapter in life.

Besides, while starring in the TV show, Drew has lost weight, and she can now boast about having a slimmer figure. Having gained weight as a result of the painful separation, the Hollywood actress pulled herself together and followed Kimberly Snyder’s diet by adding more protein. As a result, the star lost 20 lbs.!

Right now, Drew feels really great. And as for her ex-husband, they have managed to maintain a good relationship even after the split.
