Critics and fellow rappers have hailed Kendrick as the new hope for conscious rap music. He has also been praised for his adaptation of different rap styles. Eminem and Lil Wayne have mentioned Kendrick several times with glowing comments.

In all his music, Kendrick maintains an earthy feel that reflects the thoughts of his millions of fans. Plus, Kendrick seems to have a knack for staying under the radar. No celebrity entourages and scandals on his plate. And he is still a commercial success, selling out concerts in the United States with spectacular performances.

Kendrick takes pride in the fact that he writes all of his songs and also the verses he contributes to other artist’s records. His mastery of the art is evident in Big Sean’s “Control” and Future’s “Mask Off” remix.

For the first time ever, a rapper has won the Pulitzer

Kendrick just added another accolade to his growing list. He has been awarded the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for music. This is the first time in 100 years that the award has been bestowed on a non-classical or jazz musician.

A legend in the making

Many people feel it is about time that some other genre of music claimed Pulitzer.

With only the first quarter of 2018 gone, it is likely that Kendrick may have even more award-winning music in the works.
