However, Dr. Hooman M. Melamed, an orthopedic spine surgeon at Cedar Sinai Marina Del Rey Hospital who was treating Miller, offered a different conclusion.

We’re getting an oncologist involved and we have to figure out what the next steps are as far as chemotherapy or radiation or more spine surgery.

The doctor further added that Miller is likely to undergo chemotherapy and radiation treatment for her condition, notwithstanding the nature of her tumor. Miller had complained earlier of “excruciating neck pain” that led to the surgery on Tuesday morning.

In spite of his optimism, Melamed says Miller is still in a precarious position.

There’s a chance this can spread to any part of the body …  this is probably coming from somewhere else. We don’t know where the source is. Any tumor that spreads anywhere is automatically Stage 4, but we have not determined the stage yet.

Miller is still serving the remaining of her sentence for bankruptcy fraud in the Residential Reentry Center in Long Beach. It is unclear if and how her current condition will affect her sentence.

Miller may have a particularly bumpy road ahead of her, but we also wish her the best.
