Prince Charles Just Shared The Sweetest Message About His Grandchild

Date April 26, 2018

Prince Charles became a grandfather for the third time this week after Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, gave birth to her second son, but his tight schedule means he is yet to meet the royal baby.

But the next-in-line to the throne is very excited about the new addition to the family.

Princess Diana's brother's sweet message about the newborn

Charles Spencer, the younger brother of the late Diana, shared his joy at the happy news on Twitter.

After the official announcement, he retweeted photographs of Princess Charlotte and Prince George shared by the official Kensington Palace Twitter account. The images showed the two young royals accompanied by their father, Prince William, arriving to the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital ready to meet their new younger brother.

Earl Spencer wrote on Twitter: “Very sweet!” The 53-year-old had a strained relationship with some members of the royal family after the death of his sister but has always seemed to have a strong bond with her sons, William and Harry.

Prince Charles' adorable congratulatory message

The fifth in line to the throne was born at 11:01 am at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital on Monday, April 23, and weighed eight pounds and seven ounces.

But his grandfather, the Prince of Wales, traveled to France ready to attend events for Anzac Day, Wednesday, April 25, to mark the anniversary of the Battle of Villers-Bretonneux.

The Duke of Cambridge’s father said in a statement:

We are both so pleased at the news. It’s a great joy to have another grandchild. The only trouble is I don’t know how I am going to keep up with them.

An earlier statement from Kensington Palace said the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall were “delighted with the news.”

The royal family is thrilled with the baby's arrival

The new baby’s arrival was celebrated with gun saluted from the Tower of London and Hyde Park as well as bell ringing at Westminster Abbey.

Family members are expected to visit soon. It's believed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have already met Baby Cambridge. The couple are neighbors to William and Kate and live in a cottage in the palace grounds.

Kate’s sister, Pippa Middleton, visited her new nephew as well after she was seen leaving Kensington Palace following a two-hour visit to meet the newborn.

Kensington Palace have said the baby’s name would be announced: “in due course.” But it hasn't stopped many betting shops across England from guessing the baby's name. So far, Arthur is the top choice, followed by James, Albert, Philip, Alexander, Henry, and Michael.
