Between the red carpet host and the actress

Twitter went crazy after Taraji's red carpet interview with Ryan Seacrest. Following the claims of social misconducts trailing the E! host, Taraji said to Ryan, "the universe has a way of taking care of good people." Then touching him on the chin, she added, "you know what I mean?"

Thousands of people who witnessed that curious exchange took to social media to air their speculations. Many were of the opinion that the actress used the opportunity to send some shade down Seacrest's way. Check out some of the tweets below.

The Empire star later came out to say her words and gestures were misconstrued, adding that her motive for touching his chin was a way of telling him to "keep his chin up."

When People Magazine asked her directly if she's on Ryan's side through all this, she said, "absolutely."

The allegations

43-year-old Ryan who has been a host for E! for many years now, has, in recent months, been accused of sexual misconduct by a former stylist.

The woman, Suzie Hardy, opened up to Variety Magazine in an interview that she was fired from the network because she made many some graphic complaints of harassment against Ryan to E!'s human resources department. She accused him of groping and many unwelcomed sexual advances.

Despite these allegations, the network has expressed their complete support for Ryan. On February 1, they revealed that an investigation showed that there was not enough evidence to back up Suzie's claims.

Oscar snub

Despite the fact that the presenter and the rest of the network are choosing to move past this, there are some celebrities whose actions on the Oscars red carpet proved that they were not comfortable with the outcome of the matter.

Usually, Ryan's spot was one of the most coveted by celebs as they make their way to the awards, but this time around, according to reports, he only got to interview 21 people.

Some nominees like Mary J. Blige, Allison Janney, Whoopi Goldberg, Rita Moreno a few others stopped to talk to Ryan, but they basically ignored the elephant in the room.

Oscar nominees and attendees including Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lawrence, Greta Gerwig, Nicole Kidman and more chose to pass up the chance to speak with the red carpet host.

So far, Ryan has been very insistent on his innocence. He said in response to the allegations:

This person who has accused me of horrible things offered, on multiple occasions, to withdraw her claims if I paid her millions of dollars. I refused.

He also went on to say he worked hard for his success and he vehemently denied all the accusations. He urged people to put the matter to rest.
