Oprah For President: Media Mogul Shuts Down 2020 Speculations Saying, 'It's Not In My DNA!'

Long before her inspiring Golden Globes speech in January 2018, Oprah Winfrey's fans have been speculating that the TV host would run for president. The speech only increased the intensity of these reports, but Oprah herself had refrained from responding to the idea, until now.


"It's not in my DNA."

In an interview with InStyle magazine, which was conducted three weeks before the infamous Golden Globes speech, Oprah revealed that she had no plans to run for the office of the United States president.

The 63-year-old entertainment icon said she had actually considered it and even had a meeting with someone who offered to help push her political campaign, but she later let it go.

I’ve always felt very secure and confident with myself in knowing what I could do and what I could not. And so it’s not something that interests me. I don’t have the DNA for it. ... That’s not for me.

The Golden Globes speech that lit the fire.

Even though from the above, it's clear that Oprah has no plans to contest in the 2020 elections, fans are still hoping she might change her mind. For one thing, this was before the recent #Oprahforpresident social media buzz, which ignited as a result of her moving speech at the awards.

So, there is still hope that she was just as inspired by her own words as the millions of fans who watched her and believed wholeheartedly that indeed, she would make a fantastic president.

"I’ll beat Oprah' - says Trump

With all this excitement over the possibility of someone taking over the presidential seat in 2020, one has to wonder what the current president has to say about it.

While speaking to reporters, Donald Trump revealed that he was actually not that worried about running against Oprah for the POTUS post.

I’ll beat Oprah. Oprah would be a lot of fun.

So, will Oprah change her mind and give the people what they want? We guess only time will tell. For now, let us all enjoy and appreciate her for who she is -a strong, beautiful and accomplished woman whose words have inspired a nation.
