Celine Dion has been suffering some health challenges lately, and fans are worried about what this might mean for her career.
Celebrating her mother's birthday
The singer recently shared a super sweet picture in honor of her mother's 91st birthday.
On the Instagram photo, we see the superstar and her elderly mom each holding a mic while in the middle of a song. We are unable to hear what they are saying, but we like to imagine they are both singing an amazing mother/daughter rendition of 'My Heart Will Go On.'
The picture was very beautiful to see, but as it turned out, all was not well behind the scenes.
Taking care of her health
Celine has announced that she is canceling a series of shows, which she was supposed to perform in Las Vegas from March 27. This is due to a "minimally invasive surgical procedure" she has to undergo due to a middle ear condition.
Céline has announced 26 new shows for her Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at @CaesarsPalace, scheduled March 27th to April 18th and May 22nd to June 9th 2018. Stay tuned, tickets go on sale Friday, November 17th. Go to celinedion.com for more information. In the statement posted on Facebook, the 49-year-old musical icon apologized to her fans for canceling the performances, which were to take place at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
It was revealed that Celine has been suffering a condition of her Patulous Eustachian tube (middle ear). It leads to hearing irregularities and makes singing difficult, the social media post stated.
The condition was one she had been struggling with for "the past 12-18 months", and she had been making use of ear drop medications as treatments. However, the medications were no longer working, and she would have to "undergo a minimally invasive surgical procedure to correct the problem."
Celine Dion expressed her sadness that she had to disappoint her fans:
My luck hasn’t been very good lately... I’ve been so looking forward to doing my shows again and this happens…. I just can’t believe it! I apologize to everyone who planned to travel to Las Vegas to see my show. I know how disappointing this is, and I’m so sorry.
A previously canceled show
This is not the first time this year that Celine Dion had had to cancel her show due to health issues.
In January, she broke the hearts of many fans when she announced that her doctor had ordered her to take a break, and this meant she would be unable to perform as scheduled.
When I’m not well, I always try to push through and I do everything I can to do my show. I really struggled to finish last night’s show and it took everything out of me. My doctor advised that I absolutely cannot perform tonight.
We hope the talented musician regains her health, as those of us who love her are rooting for her to get back on stage and wow us like only she can. Get well soon, Celine.
